The Out NYC Hotel Seeks Sexy Latin Man-Maids
Gawker’s Brian Moylan received an anonymous tip from someone contacted to serve as a “lifestyle consultant” at New York City’s way over-the-goddamned-top new gay hotel, The Out NYC. Sure, there are special rooms for sex and for hot people and communal showers and shacking up single patrons together in rooms, but setting aside for the moment that this hotel sounds like it was designed specifically to get Rick Santorum elected president, what stuck out to us at Remezcla was the following:
Our mole also found out that the housekeeping staff is going to be all male, hopefully between the ages of 18 and 24, Latino, and handsome. (Madonna would approve, but I don’t know that the hotel workers’ union would.)
So are they going to specifically seek out Latinos for hiring in order to fulfill stereotypes/invert the Latina maid archetype? Or is the reality of the situation just that male housekeepers, like female housekeepers, are overwhelmingly Latin American? Do we really need another opportunity to hypersexualize Latinos, much less one where being a hypersexualized Latino is pretty much what you’re getting paid for?
On the other hand, if you’re a young sexy dude reading this and looking for a gig, godspeed. Hell, we’d love to hear from you if you do get hired. (Anonymously, of course.) In the meantime, we’ll stick with our favorite gay Latin maid, Agador Spartacus from The Birdcage.
