Maria Montez is resurrected in this one-women show. Weird. But, very cool. Maria Montez: Queen of Technicolor is written and performed by Dalia Davi, who happens to “have the body” and face of a certain Hollywood starlet from the ’40s. . . The show is directed by Padriac Lillis, who has worked on Broadway, National Tours, Off-Broadway and Tony Award winning Regional Theaters.
For those who may not know, Maria Montez was a Dominican born actress most often cast as the insatiable exotic beauty in something like 26 early Hollywood films, including Arabian Nights. Davi brings her back under the limelight in her new multimedia show, which garnered a grant from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and Bronx Council of the Arts. Pretty friggin cool.
