The Duetsche Bank Series at the Guggenheim presents Gabriel Orozco’s Asterisms, a two part sculptural and photographic installation comprised of items gathered from two locations including a playfield near the artist’s New York home and a coastal biosphere in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Orozco’s Sandstars is a response to the unique environment encountered in Isla Arena, Mexico which features a whale mating ground, whale cemetery, and an industrial wasteland all in a wildlife reserve.
On the other hand, Orozco’s Astroturf Collection explores debris left on a playing field at Pier 40 in New York which are displayed sculpturally and photographically.
The exhibit runs from Friday, November 9th to Sunday, January 13th.
