Tres Obras Cortas del Siglo de Oro

Event Description

El Repertorio Español, New York’s most prestigious Spanish language theater company, presents a brand new production. A bill of three plays by three of the most well known authors of the Spanish Golden Age.

Las cortes de la muerte by Lope de Vega – What would you do if your envy, your delusions, and your love testified against you before that most powerful of judges: Death?

Las visiones de la muerte by Calderón de la Barca – A drunk reaches a state of inebriation so intense he begins to question what’s real and what’s a dream. Can any of us know for sure?

El retablo de las maravillas by Cervantes – Two rogues put on a play that only the most Christian and pure of blood can see. Out comes Samson, a few rats, a dancer…and a twist ending. Would you expect anything less from the author of Don Quijote?

Presented in Spanish, Tres Obras Cortas del Siglo de Oro runs from August 25th to September 4th.
