When these guys say “mondo,” they really mean it: At the New York edition of Mondo Love (also known as a world music party), the sounds of dancehall, Latin funk, ska, rock clandestino, palo samba, batucada, forró, cumbiamba, cha cha cha, charanga, tango electrónico, flamenco, Latin jazz and even “jaus” music will be heard.
Gustavo Valencia (their “infamous-famous friendly” bartender) and Beats by Beats (their “clandestine” resident DJ) will be joined by special guests DJ Shengue (aka “la perla afrikana,” pictured), DJ Carlito Dulanto (the “soulful tribal thinker”) and Los Drummeros Rockeros (you figure it out). The party starts on February 11, with three repeat performances all the way to March.
