Part of Iberoamérica series, Used Parts (Partes Usadas), will debut in NYC for the first time. With all the action of stolen cars, border crossings and an invaluable boy friendship, this is a must see for anyone interested in Latin cinema.
“2007. Mexico/France/Spain. Directed by Aarón Fernández. With Eduardo Granados, Alan Chávez, Carlos Ceja. Fernández’s debut feature is a gritty, realistic depiction of a Mexican boy’s attempts to escape to the U.S. with his uncle. The pair resort to stealing used cars in order to pay a “coyote” to smuggle them across the border, but theirs is a world in which no one can be trusted. The enduring friendship between the boy and his best friend is beautifully captured by the pair of young actors. In Spanish; English subtitles. 95 min.”-MoMA
