Junot Diaz the author of the acclaimed The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao alongside with Edwidge Danticat of Brother, I’m Dying will give a talk as part of the 2009 New Yorker Festival’s fiction night.

OJO: This event is SOLD OUT, but the New Yorker Festival website says a limited number of tickets will be available at the door before the talk.

“Edwidge Danticat was born in Haiti and emigrated to the United States when she was twelve. She has published a memoir, “Brother, I’m Dying,” which won a 2007 National Book Critics Circle Award; the story collection “Krik? Krak!,” a National Book Award finalist; and the novels “Breath, Eyes, Memory,” “The Farming of Bones,” and “The Dew Breaker,” parts of which first appeared in The New Yorker.

Junot Díaz was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the United States at the age of six. He is the author of a story collection, “Drown,” and a novel, “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao,” which won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction last year. Parts of both books first appeared in The New Yorker. He has contributed fiction to the magazine since 1995.” – The New Yorker
